I’m all for food swaps but let’s be real. No oven fry will ever be as tasty as a McDonald’s french fry. However I am always on the hunt for new ways to make boring vegetables into something more exciting. If you have a crinkle cutter (I found mine on Amazon for $8) your fries will take on a really fun kid-friendly shape!

Turnip Oven Fries

You’ll need:

2 turnips, peeled
Crinkle cutter (optional)
Olive oil
Salt
Seasoning of choice (I used a garlic herb mixture.)
Baking rack
Cookie sheet or sheet pan

Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Cut your turnips into 1/4 inch strips. Toss turnips with olive oil to coat, salt and your choice of seasoning. Spread fries out evenly on your sheet tray topped with a baking rack (helps with heat distribution.). Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until fries are golden brown and cooked through. Delicious with ketchup of course or with my favorite condiment – sriracha!
